Ready for
what’s next.

Senior mainframe and data center operations leader with experience running large-scale infrastructure teams, leading mainframe rationalization, and returning to hands-on z/OS support. Available for selected project-based engagements focused on assessing, protecting, and modernizing critical z/OS environments.

    My Story

Information Technology | IT Production, Mainframe & Enterprise Operations

My career in Information Technology began in 1977, with hands-on experience in IBM Mainframe operations and technical support. Over the following decades, I progressed into project coordination, management of large-scale IT Production organizations, and executive leadership roles spanning operations, architecture, and technology integration within the financial services industry.

Throughout my career, I have worked in mission-critical environments where system availability, processing integrity, change control, and operational continuity are essential business requirements. My experience combines a strong technical foundation in enterprise computing with management expertise, operational governance, and leadership of complex technology teams and organizations.

    Mission-Critical IT Operations

At Banespa, subsequently integrated into the Santander Group, I was responsible for IT Production management, leading approximately 170 professionals and overseeing the operation of three Data Centers.

My scope of responsibility included IBM Mainframe/z/OS environments, network infrastructure, Mainframe and distributed-platform batch workloads, Mainframe Production Analysis, workload scheduling, the Command Center, production change management, and the Print Center. The primary objective was to ensure production stability and continuity of the processing services supporting the bank's operations.

Key responsibilities included coordinating batch processing cycles, managing job dependencies and processing windows, monitoring operational events, analyzing processing failures, and coordinating technical teams to restore services. I also chaired the Production Change Committee, responsible for coordinating and evaluating changes involving infrastructure and batch processing workloads.

This experience shaped an integrated view of IT Production: not simply the operation of technology resources, but also the coordination of processes, teams, and controls required to keep critical services running reliably.

Mainframe Architecture, Standardization & Technology Integration

At Santander, I expanded my responsibilities into an international corporate environment as part of the Americas Division, contributing to Mainframe architecture rationalization and standardization initiatives following the acquisition of Banespa.

For approximately four years, I worked on this initiative, which involved reducing redundancies, optimizing CPU, memory, and storage utilization, and standardizing naming conventions. The work also included organizing multiple instances and institutions within a single LPAR while maintaining strict security segregation and portability across sites.

I subsequently participated in the technology integration associated with the merger involving Banco Real. Later, as an Executive IT Manager, I led a team of approximately 40 professionals in Production Planning and Control (PCP), with responsibilities related to 24x7 operational stability, technical change management, and rollouts.

These experiences broadened my responsibilities beyond operational management to include architecture, computing capacity, governance, and technology integration across large-scale banking environments.

    Technical Foundation in IBM Mainframe

My career began in IBM Mainframe operations and technical support at organizations including Banco Noroeste, CESP, and Credicard. This early experience established the technical foundation for my subsequent progression into coordination, management, and executive leadership roles.

I later worked with the Mainframe environment at Banespa Corretora de Câmbio e Títulos and coordinated the processing activities supporting Banespa's production systems. These responsibilities included monitoring processing flows, controlling batch workloads, managing job scheduling, and analyzing operational issues.

Direct experience with processing operations and their dependencies helped me develop an integrated understanding of production environments, from technical execution to team coordination and the management of operational risks.

More recently, from July 2018 to February 2019, I joined the Banrisul team responsible for product support in the IBM z/OS Mainframe environment, returning to hands-on technical work in a specialized support role.

    Professional Perspective

My experience brings together two complementary perspectives: that of a professional who understands processing environments from hands-on technical operations, and that of a leader who has assumed responsibility for management, architecture, and technology integration.

This combination provides an integrated understanding of IT Production as an operating model in which infrastructure, applications, batch processing, change management, people, and governance must work together in a coordinated manner.

In financial services environments, this integration is essential to service availability, operational predictability, and business continuity. It is from this perspective, developed over a career that began in 1977, that I approach the challenges of supporting, evolving, and managing complex technology environments.
